The Black Warrior Review is a nationally-known literary magazine published twice annually by graduate students in the University’s Creative Writing Program. It features fiction and poetry from by Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winners alongside up-and-coming contemporary writers as well as literary essays and book reviews.  The current issue is available in selected Barnes & Noble stores.  In addition current and past issues are available in the OSM Store.

Fast Facts

The Black Warrior Review began publishing in 1974 and  is named after the river that borders the campus of The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
